And the church shall provide....
It's official! I have the keys to my new house and I am at this moment sitting on the floor (because I have no furniture) using a mysterious wireless internet source. After having been offline for nearly week, I was feeling very disconnected from the world outside York. I do hope this will last all year.
And so the dissertation is done, after many, many hours of not sleeping. Even for me, I was awake for an obscenely long time. I drank Coke for the first time in 20 years. But it's done.
After handing in the dissertation, I went down to the estates agents' office and demanded the keys to my house. It was no big surprise when they said no. Apparently they still hadn't received our money. But then it turned out the woman was checking the wrong account - and had been checking the wrong account for four days! But she could not check the right account until someone came back from holiday. She explained this to me very nicely, and with the unmistakeable air of 'so why are you still here, then?'. I was feeling un-British and sleep-deprived, so I stubbornly sat down and did not leave until she gave in and gave me the key. Ha!
I have been consolidating all our spices...I have four containers of cinnamon! And two of rosemary! And an entire cupboard of tea. It's quite funny. Many thanks to the Morai for such excellent provisions.
